Tilehurst Methodist Church
In the summer of 2024, Jon Skeet will be offering a computer course for beginners. This is very much aimed at beginners. If you have a computer and use it at all, you're qualified!
The course is free, and is not limited to church members, but we'd like to know numbers ahead of time to avoid running out of space. Please email computer-course@tilehurstmethodist.org.uk to book your place. It's fine if you can't make all the sessions.
The course is specifically about using Windows computers. If you have a tablet, phone, or non-Windows computer, then you may still want to join the course, but some of it won't be relevant. The session details below give some more information about which sessions are more "general" and which are specific to Windows.
Please email computer-course@tilehurstmethodist.org.uk or talk to Jon in person for any more details.
Each session will start at 2:30pm in the Pangbourne room in the halls. Jon will be present from 2pm to set up, and is happy to answer questions while setting up.
Each session will have 45 minutes of "teaching" with another 15 minutes for questions in the group - so the expected finishing time will be 3:30pm. Jon will happily answer more individual questions while packing up, expecting to leave around 3:45pm.
If you have a laptop, please bring it along (fully charged) so you can try things out during the sessions. If your computer is a desktop computer (not a laptop) then that's fine too - please don't bring it along though!
All sessions will be recorded and put on YouTube.
After the course is complete, we will consider whether further sessions would be useful.
(These may be tweaked as we go along, depending on how the first few sessions work out.)
