Tilehurst Methodist Church
The information below describes the activities of the Church before Coronavirus. Many activities that took place on Church premises are currently online, outdoors, or on hold; please contact the organiser for more information.
This group has been meeting since 2011; it was started at the request of some of the mums who attended Jolly Tots, our preschool praise and play group. The mums had questions of their own about God, faith, reading the Bible and Christianity. Initially we met in the day time, in homes whilst our children played alongside us. As the group has grown in numbers and the children have got bigger and some mums have gone back to work we now meet twice a month in different homes. On the first Friday for coffee, cake and catch up and then on a Wednesday evening for Bible study. Occasionally we go out for a meal together as a chance for us all to relax and unwind from our busy lives as mums and to take time to deepen our relationships with each other.
We have completed many studies including; 'How to be a Secure Woman', 'Women of the Old Testament’,’ Women of the New Testament'. From September (2016), we are looking at ‘Christian Beliefs’, a Life Builder Bible Study. We enjoy discussing what we read and helping each other to understand (or try to) what we think the Bible is saying and looking at how it may be relevant for us as women today. During our time together we have a time of sharing and prayer which is very valuable.
New mums have joined us over time and we are very happy for others to join us too. If you are interested please contact Sheila Moffoot on 0118 942 7128 or email mumsbiblestudy@tilehurstmethodist.org.uk for more details.
