Tilehurst Methodist Church
Thanks to all our volunteers at TMC!
The Conference is the governing body of the Methodist Church and meets annually to discuss matters affecting the life of the Church, the nation and the world. The Methodist Council has agreed that the Conference cannot meet as planned in Telford in June and has decided that it will meet online this year.
Conference sessions, including the Induction of the President and Vice-President, and Reception into Full Connexion, both of which will take place on Saturday 27 June, will be streamed live as usual.
There will be approximately two delegates from each district. This year our Rev. Andy Moffoot is representing Southampton District at Conference. Please hold him especially in your prayers.
All public sessions of the Methodist Conference will be live-streamed here. Schedule:
11.00am - 12.00pm Closing worship of the Presbyteral session including the Calling of the roll
2.15pm - 6.45pm Conference Business, Presidential addresses and Reception into Full Connexion
9.30 am - 12.30pm Conference Business
See the Conference Programme for full details.
Over the last few years many TMC folk and friends from the wider community have worked together to create a fully decorated Christmas tree and amazing poppy displays to mark important anniversaries.
Although we are currently socially isolated, we suggest that folk from the church and Tilehurst community could work together to knit or crochet flowers from left over wool (in any colour or pattern) which could then be attached to green streamers and used to wrap around the railings outside the church where they would be seen as a symbol that there is still life and activity although appearances may suggest otherwise with the building currently closed. Further information from Joan or Don Moffat (0118 9421680)
Example for a pattern
Use any grade of wool with appropriate size needles (eg DK yarn and UK9 needles)
Following the cancellation of this year's Reading Children's Festival there will instead be an online version of the festival during half term in May. This virtual festival will provide a huge variety of online activities, performances, tutorials and workshops to help keep your kids entertained during the half term holiday (23rd May - 31st May), all from the safety of your own homes.
There will be a whole host of activities taking place and highlights include a mask making tutorial via YouTube with Jelly, a music workshop with the Mini Maestros, Storytelling and Rhymetime sessions with Reading Libraries, Animal themed storytime videos, downloadable children's activities and board games with Reading Museum, online drama challenges with StageAbility Berkshire, Mummy & Me Pilates and Baby Massage with Buzylizzy, Zumba with Theatretrain, Netball coaching with Reading Sport and Leisure and basketball sessions from the Reading Rockets in your front room.
Holly needs your help! The glass porch at TMC is decorated with the lighthouse that lots of you helped make at the Light Party. We would love you to fill the porch with a rainbow collage instead! All that cardboard in the photo needs covering up... The examples are cut out of magazines, but you can use anything you like, and you can make them as big as you like too. One tip - it helps to paint or colour your rainbow first, it'll make the collage easier. Please call Holly for details of where to drop off your rainbows by Monday June 1st.
